Le Château de la Cessoie
Les premières soeurs...

In 1948, a group of Bernardine sisters arrived at their newly aquired propoerty in the country. Quite quickly, the chateau at La Cessoie became the new Generalate and Novitiate house. The monastery was constructed progressively over a series of years.

Situation

The monastery is situated in the suburbs of Lille. There is a gardenwhich gives us a beautiful space for silence, prayer and peace in the middle of a busy city.

For over 25 years the sisters have worked for the organisation ATD which works to help the poor of the world.

Schools

 

 
The sisters founded several schools but now there is only the Primary School left.
 
There are 300 students and 4 sisters who work in the school in a variety of ways.
 
 

 

Shop

There is also a shop in the monastery selling a wide range of goods.
 
 
Hours of Opening
Monday to Friday 3:00 p.m.- 5:00 p.m..
Saturday 10:00 am - 12:00 p.m and 3:00 p.m.- 5:00 p.m.

Our community consists of 33 sisters from 30's to 100's.

The diversity in our ages, origins and formations gives us a rich community life....
