Hyning Home Brownshill

January news

At Hyning, we are coming to the end of our closed time now and are getting ready to welcome guests at the end of the month. The dining room is in the process of a major spring clean and a new carpet will be laid on Monday of next week. We hope you will like the new colour! Several areas of the house have been painted as well so the general work of maintenance has continued. We have also been enjoying some recreation time together, especially the DVD of Downton Abbey given to us by the Brownshill community. Life will resume as normal however once the guests return. Brownshill is now open again after a short period of closed time and the community are very much in our prayer at this time as we think of Sr. Frances and her illness. We also had news of the death of Sr. Odile Marie, one of the french sisters and we pray for her and for the community of La Plaine in France.

Sr. Josephine Mary and Sr. Michaela went to France for several days in January for meetings and had the joy of meeting Fr. George Marie, the architect of the monastery and the new church in Burkina Faso. Fr. Georges Marie gave a talk to the french community and showed many videos and photos of the construction. It was wonderful to hear recent news and to see the progress of the new church and buldings made possible by the generosity of the people of St. Joseph's parish, Ansdell who have given over £25,000 for the construction of the church. At the moment I am uploading many of the photos and given Fr George showed to the sisters. The main Burkina page has links to those already done and more will follow soon. Burkina
