Our thoughts and prayers have been with the people of Cumbria in the past weeks after the horrific events that have affected the lives of so many people. We are very nearly in Cumbria here, so we are very aware of the nearness of this tragedy and we continue to pray for the healing and consolation of all those affected. At Hyning, we are having a visit from Sr. Mary Helen, our Mother General. She was superior at Hyning for 2 years and so knows us fairly well. We are also very pleased to have Sr. Immakulata with us, an African sister from Goma, who is resident in France at the moment. She is here for a week but again knows the place very well. She lived here for 2 years in the early 90s. Her laughter is infectious.... As mentioned on the previous news pages, at the end of June, from the 24th - 26th, there will be a retreat for young people led by Sr. Mary Stella and others. "Made in the Image of God" is the theme and it will involve sharing the community prayer and some work with the community. It is open to married or single people, Catholic or non-Catholic etc. Contact Sr. Mary Bernard at hyningbookings@yahoo.co.uk for further information.
