Monastère Notre Dame de Bon SecoursPéruwelz, Belgique |
"Unity is lived out in diversity: our communities have their own special character..... "
From our constitutions
| The monastery was founded in 1904, following the enforced
closure of the original monastery at Esquermes (near to Lille) and the
other convents in France. We are the only house of the Bernardines of
Esquermes in Belgium, but have a rich history. |

|
In 1904, the monastery was built at Bon Secours to accommodate about 50 nuns and 200 boarding pupils, the majority of whom were French.
|
The house was sold in 1981
to l'Esperanderie (a home for handicapped people) and the community transferred
to Peruwelz on the other side of the Basilica of Notre Dame de Bon Secours,
a place of pilgrimage close to the Bon Secours forest. |
| We are 18 sisters of three nationalities : Belgian, French,
and Congolese. Our life is a life of prayer in order to seek God
and to unite ourselves to him in love. Our monastic profession commits
us totally to the service of God and our brothers and sisters. |

|
If you desire a brief stop, a silent pause for God, or to join with the Community in the praise of God, the Chapel is available most times. |
