| The Order's history has had a long connection with Belgium, well over a hundred years. To celebrate the history of our community's association, a Mass of Thanksgiving was celebrated in the Basilica of Our Lady of Bon Secours on Sunday 14th March and celebrated by the Bishop pf Tournai. Many Bernardines attended this Mass as did the many of our friends and associates in France and Belgium. Other monks and nuns came to share our celebration as did many of the local Parishioners. The Parish had organised a lovely celebratory drink and refreshment afterwards. The Bishop preached at the Mass and as a souvenir of the Mass, all the Bernardines were given a Rosary to mark the occasion. Here are a few pictures of the event. | The sisters are about to leave the monastery and many have moved to new communities already. Though this may seem an end of an era, there is still room for hope. Part of our history has been the closing of houses and new beginnings resulting from this. As Peruwelz closes, a new implantation will take place in Vietnam in the next few weeks. As one door closes, another opens...We are called as Bernardines to respond to the call of God to live our monastic vocation wherever God asks us to go. As one journey ends, another is just beginning. |
