“May the sight of the great number of your holy Martyrs gladden us, O Lord, making our faith stronger and bringing us consolation by the prayers of them all. “ (Roman Missal)

During the final week of June, the Church marks midsummer with a string of feasts celebrating holy men who died as witnesses to Christ. Saint John the Baptist is well known from the Gospels, like his Galilean follower Simon the fisherman – otherwise known as St Peter. Alongside Peter, we celebrate his fellow Apostle Paul. In England, this season also marks the witness of two men who died nearly 500 years ago: Cardinal John Fisher and Sir Thomas More.
Join curator and art historian Amina Wright for a weekend of illustrated meditations on the life and witness of these Saints, as retold by artists.
