"You must come away to some lonely place all by yourselves and rest for a while" (Mk 6:31)
Individually Guided Retreat in the Ignatian Tradition
Friday 24th April to Sunday 3rd May 2026 (8 day)
or Saturday 25th April to Sat 2nd May 2026 (6 day)
For many years, we have been offering monastic hospitality at Hyning to those who wish to step away from the noise of a busy world to focus on their relationship with God.
In the Spring of 2026, we will be offering the possibility of an individually guided retreat, accompanied by daily meetings with a trained spiritual guide drawing on the wisdom of St Ignatius’s Spiritual Exercises. Each retreatant will be helped towards a personal encounter and deepening relationship with God, in silence with the Word of God in scripture.
As the Bernardine Sisters at Hyning are not formed in this spiritual tradition, three guest directors will join us for the week and each retreatant will be allocated a director whom they meet daily.
Daily Mass is celebrated and there is the possibility of the Sacrament of Reconciliation during the retreat. Those who wish may participate in some or all of the Divine Office of the Bernardine Cistercian Sisters.
